Complete integration of the aligned Newman Tamburino Maxwell solutions
In a previous work we examined the generalization of the Newman Tamburino metrics in the presence of an aligned Maxwell field [1]. It was shown there that the so called ‘spherical’ class did not admit any solutions and that consistency of the field equations therefore required the ‘cylindrical’ condition |ρ| = |σ|. The existence of solutions in the cylindrical class was left however as an open ...
متن کاملNewman Neild
The tragically sudden death of Dr. Newman Neild, in the early hours of 4th July, came as a great shock to his patients and friends, as he had been at work less than twelve hours before. There had been, however, certain misgivings in the minds of his professional colleagues during the previous few months, in spite of apparently undiminished energy. Newman Neild was born in Bristol in 1872, and r...
متن کاملPerturbations in the Kerr-Newman Dilatonic Black Hole Background: Maxwell Waves, the Dilaton Background and Gravitational Lensing
In this paper we continue the analysis of one of our previous papers and study the affect of the existence of a non-trivial dilaton background on the propagation of electromagnetic waves in the Kerr-Newman dilatonic black hole space-time. For this purpose we again employ the double expansion in both the background electric charge and the wave parameters of the relevant quantities in the Newman-...
متن کاملThe Wahlquist-Newman solution
Based on a geometrical property which holds both for the Kerr metric and for the Wahlquist metric we argue that the Kerr metric is a vacuum subcase of the Wahlquist perfect-fluid solution. The Kerr-Newman metric is a physically preferred charged generalization of the Kerr metric. We discuss which geometric property makes this metric so special and claim that a charged generalization of the Wahl...
متن کاملA NOTE ON THE UNSTEADY FLOW OF A VISCO-ELASTIC MAXWELL FLUID THROUGH A RECTILINEAR PIPE
The unsteady flow of a visco-elastic Maxwell fluid through a rectilinear pipe having its cross-section as a parallelogram under the influence of a axial pressure gradient (I) varying linearly with time , and (II) decreasing exponentially with time has been discussed in the present paper. Variables separable and Laplace transform methods have been used to solve the problem.
